Reward the little Achievements
What is something you envision for yourself? Now what can you do right now to take a small step towards it. For me I want to be stronger in my hamstrings and feet. So everyday I actively practice things to work on them.
We tend to get in our own ways a lot when it comes to our goals. Sometimes when having success and feeling great we self sabotage because we cant break our ceiling limit. Or sometimes we truly believe ourselves incapable of achieving that. So how do we prevent or empower the steps to achievement? Rewards!! Trinkets!!
As you work towards your goals reward yourself with things pertaining to the goal. Like you want to lose weight reward yourself with a new slimmer top. Not a wardrobe. Allow yourself to feel good in your body. Or maybe you decide to get a pedicure to take care of your foot health? Whatever the reward make sure its small and pertains to your goal. Don’t go spending frivolously or derailing your progress with a large reward! That will make you expect a large reward every-time you achieve a small step towards your goals. And what we want is to keep up the gold star journey, not think we are done because we did one small thing! Maybe you just make a chart and add stickers with each step. It could be as simple as that.
The reason I say reward is to keep the momentum going. You want to have a sense of achievement. Its a way of celebrating your victories and getting comfortable with going after the uncomfortable. Rewards help you to tackle the hard stuff and press pass the obstacles to obtain “pleasure.”
So what are you trying to achieve!? Write down some steps you can take to get there and as you progress make a plan for what reward to give upon completion of said task. For me I am down 6 lbs, it was 8. Anyways My goal is to get to the weight I was 2 years ago. I self savatoge a lot and allow outside influences to get in my way. I let old patterns and family dsyfunctions keep me down so I go back to the one thing I do in those moments, comfort eat. (More like buffet style.) thank god for a fastish metabolism. But I stress eat. It’s my drug of choice. Sugar is my go to when I feel anxiety, stress, depression. I consume it to the point I shouldn’t be alive. Slight exaggeration. But my goal is to get to a certain weight and limiting sugar intake to fruits only. So what are some rewards that could be on my list then? Maybe I get some kind of apple corer or a tool for fruit. Rewarding myself with sugar undoes what I am trying to achieve so I have to think of something that will keep me staying along the new patterns! But this is what I want you to do. Sit down and figure out what you can do to reward yourself for when u achieve a small goal! When I hit 10 lbs I will have a spa day! Who knows! Well get to creating your list!!
