Superstars
What does it mean to be a superstar?
You may think that superstars are famous, wealthy, outliers who reach a level of success that is beyond our imaginations. But the truth is a superstar is a person of conviction in themselves. They exude fortitude in the face of adversity. They tackle courage in the face of fear. Super stars are larger then life because they dare to habit larger then our tiny boxes allow. They see an opportunity and pounce into action. Its like when you are playing Super Mario and that power star starts bouncing on the screen and you jump into it and become invincible. That is what a superstar is, they allow themselves to become resillent to the negative, they dont take no, instead they make it possible.
What are some qualities of a superstar?
Superstars often have the characteristics of “perfection,” or so it seems. They have confidence, charisma, charm, and are admired greatly. All you see is how they got to that level of success, you didn’t watch their journey so you don’t know the struggles they faced, or the hardships they overcame. The thing about superstars is that they are human just like you and me. They have flaws and traits that if you look underneath would be seen as imperfect. Anyone can be a superstar. Right now, who are the superstars in the light of current events? Well grocery store employees, nurses, pharmacy employees, EMS personale, etc. Superstar refers to the state of current affairs in society, and it is applied to whatever society has deemed relevant. We for a while thought of Hollywood stars, football players, and rock stars as the superstars we wanted to become. Now everyone realizes that these non-essential icons are just things that fill our time, and occupy the space.
Sure it’s appealing to be rich and famous, but to be a real superstar is much more then just that. It is a person of influence and relevance. They carry the weight of admiration and respect with them, and that is a huge responsibility.
When someone admires you or looks up to you, that is a honor. One that shouldn’t be taken lightly. It means that you have qualities about you that boost others up and give them something to look forward to in themselves. It means that you inspire them and push them to want to be better and for me, that is a huge honor and responsibility. Why is that? When you reach that level it can go one of two ways. One, you can become inflated and let that success go to your head. This can mean becoming self absorbed and taking advantage of the lime light, leaving those that admired you disappointed and hurt. Two, you allow that stardom to fuel you to pay it forward and build others up. Which can translate into using it to empower others and selflessly give back to your community and humanity. So if you ever become a superstar remember to stay humble, be kind and compassionate, and always show an appreciation for those who look up to you. Kindness is magic and like a pebble in water, it ripples out into the world with intensity.
There are all sorts of people that are superstars. It could be an employee that rocked sales last month, or it could be someone who went out of their way for someone else. It could be a business owner who gives back to the community and makes sure there customers feel valued. Superstars can be local or they can be across the world. To be a superstar is going above and beyond what you think you should. Expecting the unexpected, and anticipating what is required of you and going above that. You can practice right now by just doing something you wouldn’t normally do. Go out and buy someone a cup of coffee without being praised for it or needing recognition. Go start running everyday to bring your time down for your mile. Do the extra work. Show your passion for what it is you love. Be excited and optimistic, and allow yourself to practice confidence. Shine out into the world, because we are all made of stardust and magic. It’s only how you view things that make that untrue.
One day I hope to be a superstar.
Why?
Because I want to be able to expose the negativity and chaos and change the way the world views emotions and what it means to be human. I want to help others rise and motivate people to become exactly what they admire. I want to change all this selfishness and victim mentality and teach responsibility and ownership. I want to show people that we are energy, and that our thoughts become our reality and it can be changed at anytime. I want to show people that their hopes and dreams are possible no matter what they went through or where they are at. I want to encourage people to use their imagination, to have confidence in themselves, and become the change they want to see. Through kindness, compassion, and hope, I want to change the world.
Who are some superstars you look up too? Why do you look up to them? Is it because what they have? Or is it because of who they are? What are some steps you can take to become a superstar yourself? Are there qualities you have that make you feel like one? If so I want you to write them down. Make a list of all your successes. Write all the things about yourself that make you feel confident? Don’t have anything? Well lets change that right now, look at yourself, your past, and your present. Look at where you were a year ago, 5 years ago, what has changed? Really look at how you have grown, and take what you have learned to be a trait in yourself. Is it maybe you don’t react so explosively or dramatically to any little thing that comes up? Maybe you don’t take things so personally anymore. These are amazing traits that make you a superstar. Reflect on your successes and own them, because these qualities in you could inspire others. You never know who you are going to touch or inspire out there, so be kind, and love yourself.
