Childhood Dreams
Douglas Adams is one of my fav authors
What did you envision your life to be? Has it been playing out to where and what you wanted? Did it change? Did life get in the way of making your dreams happen? If you think about what it is you wanted, do you still want it now? Are you living it?
The first thing I ever remember that I wanted to be was a lawyer. I had just finished watching the movie The Rainmaker and I knew back then I wanted to stand up for injustice, I was 11. Before that I wanted to be a broadway actor, and before that I don’t remember. But where am I now? A massage therapist with her own practice. Life doesn’t always happen the way you plan it too, but it could be the exact way you need it too.
As children we all have dreams and hopes and wishes, not obtaining them shouldn’t bring you down. If they are still things you wish to obtain then take active steps towards getting there. If not, let it go and work towards what it is you want to achieve. The thing I learned was that after all the crap from childhood I grew up not knowing what I wanted to do. I was so certain of that as a kid but when I grew up it took me so long to actually go back to school. So I spent a good portion of my young adulthood working jobs I hated, not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. Thinking as I looked back for a while that I wasted that time. But now only seeing how it helped me evolve to where I am now and become the best me I could.
Everything in your life is teaching you to become exactly what you are meant to do. Every job an opportunity, every mistake a lesson, every step in a different direction is something that will make us better at what we become. If I didn’t have all those jobs I wouldn’t have had the know how, the experience to own my own practice. Each job led me to a better understanding, whether it was customer service, assistant manager, receptionist and admin at a spa, each one helped me learn. So if you are feeling down about where you are at then I want you to actively pursue something that will bring you joy. Also realize this job is giving you skills for your future career if you chose to pursue that.
Today was a 6.
