Geocaching
Part 1 of a 2 part geocache
Have you ever heard of geocaching? Or do you know what it entails? Geocaching is a real life scavenger/treasure hunt. People hide containers that contain little trinkets that you can trade for and sometimes a book for you to sign. There is an app that you can get to find geocache sites. It is a wonderful thing to add to your hike.
I am very big into puzzles and playing detective. Plus add this to my already adventurous spirit and geocaching speaks to my soul in a way I am like holy shit I feel like I am part of something bigger than myself. When I was hiking in the woods and I went to find my first geocache site I of course took the hard way. Not on purpose but it made it more fun. I didn’t know what I was looking for or what to expect at all. But when I looked in between the rocks like my hint said a huge smile came over my face. As I picked up my tin and open it my heart felt so full. I haven’t felt that good in a long time, it was like a huge sense of achievement. I felt a surge of energy and knew I had to keep going so that is what I did, until my phone started to die. I found 4 total today and each one was unique and amazing.
Geocaching allows the inner child in you to adventure and play in the great outdoors. Some people may not enjoy it as much but if you want something to do with your kids thats free then I suggest looking into geocaching. One of my geocaches was a double, meaning it was 2 in 1. The man who left it had 2 parts to it and the first part was coordinates to lead to the next spot. Now I didn’t know how I was going to find the second location but the app if you use the compass it will show you coordinates. So I started to hunt down the second location and both of the parts were exceptional. I felt like a real pirate looking for treasure. Ahar me mateys.
It is really cool to look at the book and see how many people signed it, or look at the app to see how many people completed this and how long its been there. It’s a challenge sometimes finding the spot, especially when you are first starting out. So don’t get discouraged, just be patient and keep going. It’s like anything in life, you have to just be persistent and commit to the findings or else you will never get anywhere. That is what I really like about this, its a matter of committing to the find. There were a couple times I got frustrated because it’s new and I wasn’t sure I was in the right spot but then I kept going and bam! Found it!! I’m excited to get all my little pins and start trading for things in each of these spots. I did leave some headphones today in one of the tins before I even knew that you could trade for something else. I didn’t have anything else and they were no longer compatible with my phone.
So do you think you would try geocaching? Why not look it up online or even download the app. Try just one and if you don’t like it then don’t do it again. It’s always good to try new things because it opens you up to receive more from the world. You can bring in what you like and what you don’t. I know I said I have never loved anything for too long and that is because I am an explorer. I can’t do routine, even when I try to stick to a routine that is when I feel so caged. A lot of people might not understand that, but if you do then awesome. I feel less alone. I hope you give it a try, even if it doesn’t lead to anything at least you did something you haven’t before.
Today I was at a 6. I was tired, excited but tired.
Part 2 of the geocache. The head is actually a container.
