Woop

I learned something pretty amazing today that I want to dive deeper into. It’s called Woop, Wish, outcome, obstacle, plan. So what does this mean? Well I have been preaching positivity this and manifest that because that is what I have learned and lived in for a long time. All the self help books, think positive, law of attraction, well there is way more to it then just think positive. What does this Woop do? It uses contrast thinking. You contrast a wish with an inner obstacle and then create a if then plan.

So I also learned that a lot of people that use just positive thinking wind up actually depressed, hello! Why? Because if you are thinking positive but then road blocks come up you wouldn’t react the way you did if you had a plan to counter act the obstacle. Also if you think positively like you already have it you are more prone to relax because you make your brain believe you already have it. That can be counter intuitive because then your lax demeanor doesn’t fight for it, thus making you less likely to reach the goal. And bam depression. Circles right back to that.

When using the Woop you want to identify what your wish is. Ask yourself what would bring you joy, or what it is you want. Find the why also for why that wish is what you want. Really get to the underlying reason, so you can get a better understanding of the inner obstacles you will face.  Then once you know that wish, lets begin to feel and understand the outcome of that wish. True visualization of every detail of it. If you want to lose weight imagine the pant size, or your waist becoming slimmer. Imagine the way you want your body to look, or imagine getting your time down for a run. Seeing it on your watch. Feeling the pavement under your feet. That is what the outcome is, knowing the details of what your wish would be. Then lets take it further, what obstacles come up? You are at a birthday party and you don’t want to eat the cake but it’s tempting you, how do you fight it? Maybe you get a stick of gum to curve the craving or eat a small piece of chocolate. See if you understand your obstacles you will create ways to surpass them. Without knowing your obstacles you may just eat a piece of cake, and then maybe some icecream as well. There was no safeguard put up for facing it so you caved to it. Then after you start thinking about all your obstacles, that is when you figure out a plan to get there. Like maybe you make bento boxes and eat 3 of those a day. You meal prep, or count macros. You make an effective plan to take you the rest of the way, then you just act. It’s like drawing a road map for you, seeing detours and finding a way around of them.

It’s crazy I had the first part of this whole change and habit forming scheme, now I have another tool in my belt, one that I can implement and help create better habits. Hopefully this helps you as much as its helped me. Let’s talk about what some of your goals are, weekly, monthly, yearly. I am excited to start using this to achieve what I want!
