Cycles in the mind
Do you have repetitive thoughts? Thoughts that leave you repeating similar behaviors, patterns or actions? Are you aware that they are even happening? Has doubt, insecurity or low self worth left you wondering whats the point? Why am I even bothering if I keep feeling this way. What can you do? How can you get out of these nefarious thoughts, especially in the middle of some crazy ass pandemic.
Well you are not alone. We all have cycles, we all repeat patterns. We are all on a journey of self discovery and transformation. Even if you don’t believe so you are. Life is a learning process. We have to learn from a young age how to act, how to think, what not to do, what to do. All of these things taken in from our sensors and then transmuted into our “ego” or personality and moralities. So how can you change a lifetime of learned behaviors, learned reactions, learned actions?
The process is hard and can be difficult. You can want to change and want different things but your mind is a maze of circuitry. Each time we repeat a thought that synapse fires faster and it finally becomes automatic. It becomes a cycle without us even knowing it. We start the process and 5 steps down the ladder you are like wait why am I thinking about this again? You can be mindful, get help, and even see you are doing it over and over and still its happening. What do you do?
First don’t shame yourself for it. Don’t attach shame to a cycle you want to change. Or don’t attach any negative emotion for having this. By attaching negative you cant change it. You have to gain acceptance of it. It is a part of your mind, your cycles. And once you gain that you can be free to change. “It is only after you lose everything that you are free to do anything.” I think that means that once you lose the ego, the story, the emotions attached, the patterns then you are free to choose to be whatever you want.
Anytime it starts change the station. Catch it. Once you catch it flip it to something else. Maybe you think about being here right now. Or you think of something positive. This will allow you to rewire things so that way you can move forward.
Take deep breaths and focus on everything around you. Use your senses, see everything in the room. Look at the colors and shapes. Smell the air, what scents are present? How do you feel in the space? Comfort? Safe? Is it warm, is it sticky? Taste things around you if there are any. Are you thirsty? Hungry? What do you hear? Are there low sounds? Is it silent. Allow yourself to use your senses to gain control over the present moment.
I hope some of these tips help you. If you have any feel free to share! Im always looking for ways to rewire these cycles. Because I know how it feels to be stuck.
Today I was at a 6. It was long and exhausting. I feel things are about to change for the better. I haven’t had positivity in a while. Im starting to finally feel it again.
