The Whoop
So yesterday my day was shot when I decided to take a benadryl which made me pass out 10 min after. 10+ hours later I found myself waking up, along with extreme sluggishness and sleepyness. So I missed yesterdays entry because I figured Id get to it after dinner and I was horribly mistaken.
But let me tell you with 10 hours of sleep my body feels better. There are some sore areas of course but after getting that much sleep I realize how much I have been coasting by on 7+ hours. I have a whoop device. If you look it up its a fitness trainer band. It watches strain levels, sleep, and recovery. It gives you an idea of when to have a hard strain day and when to take it easy. Ive had mine for over a month now and I think I have had 2-3 green days out of 30+ days. For me thats a red flag. When I first had the whoop when it came out I was often in the green and well rested. But now this go around I am mostly yellow. This has got me thinking that I am not getting the restful sleep I need.
Ive spoken about sleep and its effects on the body before, but now I am seeing how sleep is crucial on recovery from first hand experience. The fatigue Ive felt lately, the tiredness is from lack of full sleep. Who knew huh?
Are you someone who works out? Or want to get a better understanding of how your body deals with strain? I highly recommend the whoop then. Because if I didn’t have something tracking my sleep I would of been going about it blind. I went to my dr for my bi weekly covid testing and because of my whoop she recommended a sleep test. She asked me to try melatonin for the next 2 weeks and see how my sleep is tracked and if I feel more rested. If not then she will send me for a sleep test.
Isn’t technology so wonderful? Sure it can be a curse at times because it may fail, but it is allowing us to be more in tune with our bodies. This tracker has allowed me to watch my breathing, my heart rate and also allowed a bit of competition with other users. Ive thoroughly enjoyed it and will continue to use it as I keep working out and trying to get stronger and better.

Today was a 4 because of the benadryl sluggish dream like state. But otherwise positive and happy.
