Laziness

Every now and then a day comes in where you feel slow moving and the time passes without accomplishing anything. You check your watch after loafing about and it’s already 8 pm. What happened to the day? Where did the time go? As of late because of the current affair of things Laziness can become a new norm. Even when you have routines the mundane can cause anyone to find themselves leisurely putting off tasks they would normally do. Having a day that is lazy is one thing, but to become lazy is another.

I found myself losing the routine today and divulging in just sitting on the couch, stuffing my face, and feeing completely devoid of wanting to take action. An object at rest stays at rest, while an object in motion stays in motion. When you allow yourself a lazy day, full of food and non activity be prepared to find the ability to want to get up. After staying at rest you won’t want to get up and do anything. So the best thing for any type of laziness is to get up and move. Shake it out with a dance, go for a run, walk your dog or cat. Just get your body into motion. Without movement our minds tend to overthink. It can become complacent and docile, not wanting to accomplish anything. The fight is lost, and you just sink into whatever emotion suits you at the bottom of stagnation.

Non movement creates chaos in the body. We were meant to move. So being lazy by not doing the dishes, is fine for a little but look at what happens if you don’t do them for days. They pile up, filling with rot and germs, eventually mold if you allow it to. There’s no room in the sink to get some water and that high pile of filth sits there stinking up the place. Yes I do my dishes, and so does my partner. It’s a metaphor... god. The point is when you let yourself sit still in your own filth stuffing your face, your body slowly decays into loss of muscle tone, bone density, and begins to create more fat as storage. All that energy you consume fills you up without a place to go, so instead it goes to your hips. I am not saying that anyone with extra weight on them is lazy, this is for those who put on weight merely from laziness and self indulgence.

I allowed myself to be lazy today, but not just putting off my writing or watching a few episodes on Netflix. I went into the laziness that is sloth like, consuming like a gluttonous pig and inactive. That is not a good place to be. Probably because I ate way to much sugar the past 2 days and my body is unable to get back to normal. But I digress. This laziness almost made me skip entering a blog entry and saying yea it’s okay if I skip one day. That’s when I decided I had to get up from my nap. Yes I napped after a large dinner, which was amazing and said I have to get this done. These blogs are the one thing I accomplish everyday. They give me an outlet and a place for expansion for myself, and to help others. I couldn’t just sit idly by and cast this work away because I wasn’t feeling it. Creating habits is what this whole Dare to habit’s about. How could I just let one day go and undo the hard work I’ve been putting into this. That’s when I got up and grabbed this laptop and began to write. Not knowing what to write about and feeling slow, I pushed past it and went for it. That’s how we got here.

Laziness is an all consuming feeling that keeps you in a place of non movement. If you start down this slippery slope it could effect everything in your life. Your work, your home life, your physical body, mentality. It could creep in like a demons whisper and leave you feeling disgusting. So I say to you did you move today? Did you get off the couch and go for a walk? Did you do some kind of movement at all? I know it’s late, but get up, put a song on and dance it out. Go do some pushups or sit-ups. Walk up and down your stairs. Anything! Your body and mind will thank you, and that is how you create momentum. Like I said before, an object at rest stays at rest. An object in motion stays in motion. Momentum is built by moving, so find some way to move.

If you are feeling lazy what is something you can do right now to get out of it? I challenge you to clean, dance, walk, or run, anything that is a type of movement really for at least 15 minutes. That will help you to keep going. After do one task you put off today, anything. Find a way to get you out of laziness and into an energetic state of being! Dare to Habit.
