Arts & Crafts

Getting crafty!! Today my partners mother showed me macrame!! And omg it was so much fun! It was such a good day chatting and making things! I needed a day like that!

Have you tried to get crafty during this quarantine? It can be anything from drawing to painting to crochet to building a planter. The sky’s the limit on your imagination. So why not pick something up especially if you are battling depression. During this quarantine the alone time has shone a light on a lot of things. Relationships, my own weaknesses and things I want to change. Its helped me and also drove me to the depths of hell. Im sure you feel it, we all do. Some people have family they live with and get to see everyday. Some live with their room mates, partners. Some have kids, some have pets and then there are some who are alone day in and day out. Whatever your circumstances remember to practice kindness and compassion for everyone. That includes to yourself. Find time to unwind by coloring in a coloring book. Listen to music and start to make jewelry . Allow yourself the creative space, because that place keeps you focused on the now. Keeps your mind engaged and pushes all that noise and crap to the side.

What are some things you have been wanting to do? Write a list of all the things you would like to do during this quarantine and try to check one off a day. These don’t have to be huge accomplishments, they can be like practice knitting for 45 minutes. Or bedazzle your socks. Whatever you want make little projects and then big ones that are done over time. If your not working like me then you know how helpless you can feel. Instead take that helplessness and turn it into productivity! Get up and get going. Grab some crayons and melt them onto a canvas. Get some magazines and cut things out and then pain on top of it. Do paper mache and make a pinyata for a birthday coming up.

By actively keeping your mind engaged you are no longer swimming in a pool of your own thoughts. Instead your being proactive and helping yourself heal. You give space for your inner child to come out and be free to enjoy its creativity and imagination!

Today I was at an 8! I got to enjoy a wonderful time with family. It really made my day.
